Mult Dems Central Cmte: Nomination Form

The January 8, 2009 meeting of the  Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee will be our biennial Organization Meeting.  We will elect the officers of the Democratic Party of Multnomah County as well as delegations to the State Central Committee and Congressional District Committees.

From the Bylaws:

Any citizen of Multnomah County registered to vote as a Democrat for at least the preceding 180 days shall be eligible to hold any office of the Central Committee.

You may use this form to declare your intention to run for an officer position. You may also nominate another Democrat, but please confirm his or her willingness to serve. Any declaration of candidacy received by the vice-chair (vice-chair@multdems.org) prior to 7:00 Thursday, January 1, 2009 will appear on the printed ballot at the meeting.

Nominations may also be made from the floor at the meeting. Only nominations received by 7:00 Thursday, January 1, 2009 will appear on the printed ballot.

According to State law, only elected Precinct Committee Persons may vote for party officers at the Organization Meeting.

The officers of the Democratic Party of Multnomah County are:

  • Chair
  • Vice-Chair
  • Recording Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Communications Officer
  • Historian

We can send 14 delegates, including the Chair and Vice-chair to the State Central Committee, seven men and seven women. We will also elect 7 male and 7 female alternates. Congressional District Delegation sizes vary according to the portion of the CD in Multnomah County.

Nominations for delegate positions will take place by declaration at the meeting or by notification to the vice-chair. There will be no printed ballots for these positions. Elected and appointed PCPs are eligible to vote for delegates.

Elected and appointed PCPs will meet in their respective Congressional District caucuses at the Organization Meeting to elect delegates.
