Happy Independence Day, July 4, 2007

Dear Oregon Democrats,

July 4th has become a day from which we take a break from the normal routines.
May I suggest that we also take the time to re-center and re-evaluate ourselves and our dedication to the higher principle of exercising and preserving these individual freedoms and liberties and unalienable rights which are the cornerstones of our communities.

Memorial Day 2007: What is a Vet?

On this Memorial Day of 2007, as we take time out to enjoy the liberties and privileges that we come to take for granted as Americans, it becomes especially important to remember the true heroes of our country. I am speaking of the fine men and women of our military.

George Soros Speaks out "On Israel, America and AIPAC"

Another important figure has spoken out against our one-sided loyalty to the Israel lobby.

George Soros' recent article "On Israel, America and AIPAC", published in the New York Review of Books, is well worth reading. You can click here for the full article: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/20030

He bemoans the leadership of the Democratic Party and their slavish devotion to AIPAC and the pro-Israel right wing:

"I believe that a much-needed self-examination of American policy in the Middle East has started in this country; but it can't make much headway as long as AIPAC retains powerful influence in both the Democratic and Republican parties. Some leaders of the Democratic Party have promised to bring about a change of direction but they cannot deliver on that promise until they are able to resist the dictates of AIPAC."

Al Sharpton and being a Precinct Commitee Person

Hello, Martin B. here. Been thinking about how I voted myself in as a PCP, and I've been telling everybody about it on message boards, giving us Democrats a good image.


Only three kinds of folk care about Sharpton's politics

 

Foxfolks; the folks on Sharpton's payroll; Democrats (white and black) hoping to piss off Foxfolks.

Just look at who posts or talks about him the most. It ain't the mainstream partisans or media that take him seriously. He's the Ann Coulter of the Democrats, only the GOP leadership and their media lackies takes Coulter seriously enough to keep giving her a forum.

Imagine the stink if Sharpton, or hell, even me as the lowly precinct committee worker for the Democrats, was to write an editorial carried nationwide calling for the assassination of all Republicans who didn't believe in ending capital punishment. Or called on using the US military to invade Israel and kill all jews who wouldn't convert to christianity.

Ann does this thing with different targets and keeps getting a paycheck.
