Democratic organization endorses Sorenson, Hill

The Register-Guard Lane County Commissioner Peter Sorenson's challenge to Gov. Ted Kulongoski got a boost Saturday when the Multnomah County Democratic Party voted to give Sorenson and former state treasurer Jim Hill a "co-endorsement" in the primary race this May. "This is fantastic," Sorenson said. "I've been going around the state for 14 months and trying to make the case for my campaign. I keep hearing, 'We really like you,' in places like Roseburg, Burns and Eugene, but what about Portland? So to have the co-endorsement of the biggest Democratic organization in Oregon is a big honor and something that really will help us throughout the state." Gavin White, chairman of the Multnomah County Democrats, credited the "passion and support" for his group's values and policies for Sorenson's and Hill's success in garnering the endorsement. "In essence, we're trying to make the principles of democracy and the public good the driving force behind public policy," White said. advertisement Sorenson and Hill showed they share the same goals and beliefs, he said.
