Sen. Chip Shields Announces Oregon Iron Works and YoCream to Join Living-Wage Jobs Town Hall
Event is Friday, August 20 from noon to 1:30 PM at North Portland solar plant
(Portland, Ore.) - State Senator Chip Shields (D-N/NE Portland) announced today that two more Portland-area businesses that are doing well and hiring despite the recession will have human-resources representatives at this Friday's living wage jobs town hall hosted by Sen. Shields and state Rep. Lew Frederick (D-N/NE Portland).
Founded in 1944, Oregon Iron Works is an innovator in the manufacturing and fabrication industries. The 2007 legislature invested $20 million to jumpstart streetcar manufacturing in the Portland area. Thanks to that investment, Oregon Iron Works is the first America company to domestically produce streetcars in almost half a century. Also, Oregon Iron Works is set to begin constructing North America's first wave-energy buoys again thanks to legislative action. Oregon Iron Works will be hiring for a number of positions in the coming months.
YoCream is an international company based here in Portland. They are a leading producer, marketer and seller of frozen yogurt and other high-quality frozen novelties. As an established industry-leader with over 30 years experience providing of high-quality products and services, YoCream is well-positioned for long term growth and is hiring for a variety of openings.
